This is my favorite pic- though it doesn't show all the side details (damn me and my predilection towards extreme side-o-the-face detail work!)

S'been a long time since I've uploaded so many versions of a project, but I think this time tis unavoidable. Oh well.

:bulletblue: Time 1 Reaper & Breakfast @ Tiffany's up until the party. Seriously? I am so Holly GoLightly, and I don't know if that's a good thing. XD
:bulletblue: Medium Wolfe Brothers (black & metallics). Little bit o' lipstick. :D

:D Every now and again! Usually I try to make it more about the art and less about me- but this one it just suited it.

I adore your facial paints, they fit so perfectly into your face, they have so many details and are beautifully expressive!

:glomp: What an incredibly sweet comment; thank you so much! It hits on so many things I hope to convey- facial structure, detail work, and to express something emotional. It means a lot to me that they come across in the images.

So, I have a question, and I'm assuming that you're not ambidextrous. Whenever I'm painting my face, if I'm doing detail work it tends towards asymmetry on the dominant-hand side of the face (because symmetry is hard). Are there any techniques for getting the far side of the face, or just a lot of practice?

Wow, great question- I really had to think about it. I try not to get myself in the position to have to do symmetrical pieces- because it's way too frustrating when you mess up... XD (my normal response to a mistake is to turn it into part of the design, not possible with a symmetrical design per se.)

You're correct, I'm not ambidextrous. I've only ever once tried to paint with my left hand, and that was w/ my 'self wing painting' on my back. I'm a righty, and I thought I would say that I favor the right side of my face... but I'm looking through my gallery to try and answer your question, see if there's a correlation- and I actually think I favor my LEFT side of my face more. Trying to think why, why, why... and I have a true but stupid answer for you.

My mirror only fits on the left side of my desk. :giggle: So rather than turn almost completely around so that my right side is visible in the mirror, I tend to start on the left. So... I guess practice? I don't think there are many techniques, barring getting used to seeing yourself out of a sliver of sight from your own eye. For really involved collages, I always start from the HARDEST part and work my way inside- so, edge of the jaw, work my way up to the eye, which is easiest.

Actually, you wouldn't believe how much that mirror position trick makes sense. The first project I ever did was a domino mask, sitting on the floor with my paints and mirror on an ottoman directly in front of me. Symmetry was the problem there, not reaching parts of my face. Pretty much every time after that, my mirror has been on the right... Such revelations!

^_^ No, it's just the name of an art fusion charity event they've held in MA the past few years. It's a charity auction/moving art piece that benefits the Worcester Area Food Bank. All black/creative black/costumes are a must.
