This didn't originally start as a zodiac piece... I just saw something pretty on DA that was orange and white and thought "mmm, orange n' whiiiiite" so I started to play. When I play, that basically means I start with a shape and just paint haphazardly around it. That's one reason that this isn't symmetrical. The other reason? I don't like symmetrical. :XD:

I don't know if I'll ever do the full zodiac. Maybe if I can finagle mehself some more models. A full zodiac of me would be supah boring.

Why are you so good? *weeps*

I see designs like this and feel completely shitty about my artisitc abilities, because I know there's no way I'd ever dream them up myself. XD

I love all of your intricate whorl patterns, and how you're able to incorporate key elements of your theme into your design so aesthetically. . . those pincers and your lips are absolutely ingenious. <3

:cuddle: As per always, you flatter me blushing, you! But honestly, don't ever feel 'completely shitty' about your artistic abilities- your pieces are so fabulous- makeup and what's more, you've got the 'whole picture' aspect down, which I'm not even close to being about.

And this isn't 'dreamed up'- not planned a'tall, just so off the cuff. It's why I don't do symmetrical things as a rule- because I just get my paint and start painting. If something strikes me as pretty, I keep it. If it's oooglay, I wipe it off. :XD: S'amazing what you can stumble on that way. These weren't originally pincers- they were just swipes of orange that were then very lopsided, so I said "Eh, if I turned them into claws I could even them out."

You should try just getting out makeup and playing. I start with the eyes, usually. Or start in the corner of your face and work outward. You'd be surprised what you can come up with.

My problem is that I have very specific and clear ideas - or, if they're more vague, I always want to incorporate an exact element and execute in a precise way. I get frustrated if they turn out as less than what I intended. XD

I've never been much of a doodler, oddly. . . the idea always come first for me, at the very least. I have to know what I'm going to be doing so I can define my angle of approach and eliminate dumb mistakes.

However, genius usually strikes me unintentionally. I've never sat down thinking "I'm going to create a masterpiece", because the result is usually disappointment. But, sometimes fate, timing, and whimsy are the best contributors. . . the things I'm most proud of art-wise are often the ones that started out with a simple premise, and spiraled into unconscious brilliance. Which is really ironic. XD So maybe I should stop trying so hard. . .

And you're very welcome and deserving, of course! I'm just a typically dissatisfied artists with steep standards always looming an inch above me reach. If ever I become too complacent with my abilities, it's time to find a new set of talents!
